In 2015, a New York court awarded over $1 million to the estate of a veteran of the U.S. Navy. The veteran pursued legal action following a diagnosis of mesothelioma. The veteran argued that his cancer was due to exposure to gaskets as well as packing manufactured by John Crane Inc.
