Occupations and Asbestos

Investigating Asbestos Exposure in a Variety of Occupations

Mesothelioma, asbestosis, and other related diseases usually develop decades after exposure to asbestos. New cases are diagnosed every day for people who have worked in industries that exposed them to asbestos in years past. Many employers put their workers' health at risk, even today, by continuing to use products and machinery containing asbestos, even when the health hazards were well-known to the public.

At The Throneberry Law Group, we investigate the parties responsible for the development of your mesothelioma or related disease. We are adept at identifying the product, company, or instance that exposed you to toxic asbestos material, and aggressively litigating to recover compensation to pay for your treatment and medical care.

Occupations Linked to Asbestos Exposure

A vast number of workers have been at risk for asbestos exposure over the past century. The following are the more common jobs and job sites that have subjected their employees to asbestos exposure over the years:

In addition to these careers, view our lists of asbestos-containing materials and companies that may have exposed workers to asbestos. If you developed mesothelioma and have worked in any of these occupations, with any of these materials, or on behalf of any of these companies, you may have grounds to receive compensation from those responsible for your illness.

Employers Violate Asbestos Exposure Laws

In 1997, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) created laws that restrict the use of asbestos to .1 fibers per cubic centimeter at work sites. OSHA is a government agency tasked with making sure job sites remain safe for workers. OSHA is also required to provide workers with adequate protective clothing as well as equipment for workers in the proximity of asbestos. If your employer does not follow these regulations, and you fear you have been exposed to asbestos, you can file a complaint with OSHA by calling or visiting an OSHA office.

Compensation for Asbestos Exposure Related Conditions

Workers who developed mesothelioma and other asbestos exposure related conditions are able to obtain compensation, which can include the following:

  • Lawsuits that result in settlements
  • Trust fund claims
  • Veteran’s Administration claims
